Hi all, just wondering if the threaded holes that hold the exhaust on can be heli coiled or re tapped with the engine still in the van. Its a 1.9dg watercooled 1987. Just seems a lot of work to take engine out.I replaced the exhaust about 2yr back and hasn't been right since I did it. Seems to be blowing around the section where exhaust is bolted on to the engine, it's sounding a bit like an air cooled van now. Thanks guys

I'd say can but you will need to remove some bits to get access, never done it though.
one of these will help

That's what Cav at Revesby garage uses to drill without removing the engine. So it's do-able but must still be a game without a ramp.

Cheers guys, I won't be doing it myself but its finding a garage I can trust to do it is my main concern and if it's possible to do with the engine still in situ.
I don't know why, when I post on here that it always seems to double post. I will look and delete other one. Thanks
