WBX hydraulic lifter replacement

Is it possible to pull old hydraulic lifters up the push rod tubes with the head in place to replace with new, or is it a head off job to allow removal of the push rod tubes to gain access to the hydraulic lifters?
Thanks in advance if you can help.

It is possible to remove the lifters without head removal.
The pushrod tubes however have to be removed.

Some advice in the wiki.

That what I was hoping to avoid. The cost of telescopic push rod tubes x8 over the risk of pulling the heads with the possibility of snapping head studs.
I'll have a look on wiki if there is some useful stuff there.
Many thanks
