in my own view of the various vehicles only crazy begonzi from the planet mad in the galaxy loony would consider such a move ,one of the great feather in the cap of type25 is that they are in fact longer from front to back than the type 4.they have bundles of charm and ooze character, furthermore they are true camping vehicles, rarely see poor old loaf of breads(type2)or the splitty when i'm doing ninety mph on way to scotland.
Having a type 25 is the real vw camping enthusiasts motor, sitting at some show with my ghoulies in a wheel barrow stareing at some type 2 that i dont go camping in is really not my cup of tea(tea made in my fantastic type 25 most doodley dooooodly do is)

Is a 2.1i that fast ?
What mpg does it do , must be less that 20mpg at that speed.
I still want one, but wouldn't be putting a Subaru engine in.
Just think of all the brake upgrades that would be needed to stop the thing

mine read 165kmph (on an autobahn, obviously)
i'ts always good fun to zoom past the older stuff on the M5 to vanfest
and joe, they do look like the comments from someone who may have imbibed a few frothy pints during the evening before logging on
but all true

OK, I'm interested in this.
What makes the 2.1i so much quicker than the 1.9 petrol ?
It's only got 200cc more power and injection, or is that the answer ?
Perhaps there is other stuff going on in the engine, any techies out there ?

DF 1,9l from 82on 44Kw / 60bhp. .
DG 1,9l from 82on 57Kw / 78bhp. .
It might be only200cc but the bhp is quite a bit more.
DJ 2,1l. with injection from 85on 82kw / 112bhp. .

Thanks for that info
Wonder how they managed to extract the extra BHP from the 200cc
Could the 1.9be mildly tuned to provide extra horses do you think?

I got gas too well pleased with it,although you do notice some loss of KA POW when loaded up with a lot of weight and up steep hills that are waiting around a tight corner, when i transported the tiles of which there was a heavy lot i flicked back to petrol and there was loads of difference in power, the 2.1 sounds like a great engine,
