Mechanic in South West France

Hi all,
My 84 (DF engine) clutch slave cylinder has blown a seal while on a camping trip in Mimizan, Landes, South West France.
As a result I've got no clutch and I'm stuck. My problem is my breakdown recovery service can't find a local VW mechanic and want to repatriate the vehicle and us back to the UK, cutting our camping holiday short.
Does anyone know of any good VW mechanics in the area?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

if you are on a camp site, get Brickwerks to send you the part. Not sure which is the slave - front or back...but front is easy and rear is worse...particularly if all the pipe kuctions are corroded. If its the front, I expect the chap who comes out in the repair truck can replace it....if its the rear I would want someone who knows what they are at to do it.

Ok, your holiday will be cut short...but can you not book the repatriation for the end of your break?

regards

(i believe there is a french t3 forum)

I don't know of any but I would ask at the campsite. They will probably know somebody local who can fix it as there is bound to be somebody in the area who can replace the slave.

Give them a call, they'll help i'm sure. Most mechanics in france are pretty good with old vans, a surprising amount of French folk still drive old motors. As said above, i'd get the parts next day from brickwerks and a local mechanic to fit them.

Thanks all for your replies and suggestions.
Parts on way from Brickwerks and found one local garage that isn't closed and isn't booked out this week.
Also big thanks to sarran1955 who has done some hunting around for me.
Fingers crossed I'll be on my way soon.
Cheers!

I'm a couple of hours up the road in Agen. You're welcome to pop by if you need to borrow any tools or need a hand (or just need a coffee)
