An easy fix for any tight fuel fIller that threatens to snap your ignition key off:

A few drops of light silicone oil (same stuff used to ease wind or constipation in infants) into the lock and also the sliding/rotating part of the cap will let it work smoothly.

It wont dissolve or wash off, it also makes any faded cap look like new again!

Dimethicone is the pharmaceutical name iirc. Silicone oil is biologically inert, its basically administered orally as an in-system bowel lubricant... our first born got through a lot of it, he was a nightmare for trapped wind.

My petrol cap has half a key inside it - was like that when I bought it!
