indicators and lights come on at the same time

Basically when I indicate left my left headlight illuminates slightly matching the indicator. The dash shows the indicator is working, the indicator works, but flashes the front left light at the same time. This also happens when I switch on the hazard lights. The indicator ‘stalk’ feels a little loose could this be the problem?
I’m a T25 novice and not very good with electrics. For reference she is a 1983 Joker with square headlights fitted by previous owner.

Hi, you almost definitely have an earth fault. Most likely in the headlight wiring behind the grille but it could be a fault with the tail light earths! Do the tail lights flash as well?

earths are located next to the fusebox, clean them up

As well as cleaning up the connections onto the earth point (earth crown), you also need to check that the earth crown itself has good electrical contact to the van body.

Both rear and front lights come on with indicators but the rear lights are very dull when they do, they only just come on.

Thanks for all the advice
