Hi guys.

Front brakes are ready for a service.
Is there an easy way to tell if mine are early or late?
It's an 84 so could go either way I'm finding on most things.

Brake service? if you are talking about brake pads then there are early (square) brake pads, or late (crescent shaped) brake pads.

Early: fixed, none floating (two piston) brake calipers with square pads.

Late: floating caliper (single piston) with crescent shaped pads.

If you are talking brake calipers then things get slightly more complicated as there were two 'brands' of calipers (ATE & Girling)

Brake disc's and bearing kits follow the early/late rules (2 wheel drive)

Depends on what parts are going to be changed.

That's a great help, as I'm still waiting to start the job.
It's just pads and discs I'm expecting to do. ( who knows, might just be pads!)
I can take a wheel off now to inspect the discs and pads and order up what's needed.

Pads are easy to identify, later crescent shaped pads or early rectangular pads. Just buy a decent brand .. ATE/BOSCH/PAGID/MINTEX/Brembo all fairly good.
