I have just seen the comments on the syncro 'page' ' topic' and wondered what the current thinking is re the bigger bore, I'm not after max lifespan for the engine and it is not going in my camper but in the buggy. The current engine is a 1.9 DG with some head rework a scat C25 cam and twin Dellorto's wih possible 'Dellorto drip'. I am after more torque but still need possible 7000 rpm and am about to strip an MV engine (thanks Printmonkey) with amc heads and was thinking which way to proceed, I know that 025 Motor sport have a hydraulic cam up grade but know that this was for the heavier camper and can't now find the discussion spec? Help please for an old school idiot :ok

I did once send a DG off the end of the tacho when the throttle cable froze, so its possible and survivable, but its never going to make massive torque with a 69mm crank.
Using the 76mm would be a good start (in any other engine it would be considered a short stroke crank with high rev potential) but all the oem pistons are quite heavy, around 560g iirc. The 98mm pistons that Omega made for me are more like 515g so put a lot less strain on the rods and bearings at higher rpm.
