Hi All
I am looking to purchase a Drive away awning for my Devon pop top so was looking for some advice or links to help me along as never had one before and there seems to be loads out there . Downside is i have a budget of up to £300 but more than happy to buy second hand , just need to know what is the most compatible and what i need to be looking for

Taking advice from this forum 18mths ago l bought a secondhand Khyam motordome classic,£300,never used and it's fantastic,l bought the figure eight attachment kit, part of which fits to your van and makes attaching a doddle,quality awning,you won't be disappointed,as someone said 18 maths ago. "Thank me later".

I also have a devon you do not mention if your van is lowered or not . If it is not the khyam will fit lovely in your rain gutter using apair of large crocodile clips one on each end . If it is lowered you will have to fit an awning rail to the upstand on the bellows . (Thats the bit that sits on the roof and the bellows are screwed to it ) or you will open the sliding door to find a large puddle in the awning roof and a wet carpet in the awning . The khyam is a one person job and is what i will buy again when this one dies . Hope this helps . Dougal

Figure of 8 took my edge strip off so I got the clamp on bar - easier and less likely to do damage.
I had a steel frame tent type of awning originally (came with the van), but found it was a bit of a game to put up, so splashed out on a Vango Airbeam - so easy to put up and take down. But expensive. The cheapest new is about £400, but I reckon you could pick up a 2nd hand one within your budget.

I'll second a khyam Motordome, I took a risk on a second hand one at dubfreeze 3 years ago for £120, and it's been in use constantly, even used it as a gazebo in the garden for bbq's

Easy for one person to erect and take down, actually fits into its storage bag and is a nice size, I think I prefer an awning not to have a built in groundsheet, I had a JK one with built in ground sheet and if you were at a wet event everything inside seamed to get muddy too.

I also went with pole and clamps, my trim got damaged with the figure of 8 but I'd also managed to drive off with it still attached to the van a few times too

The only issue I have with the motordome is that it doesn't have a porch front to it, which when it's pissing down water runs in when you are coming and going, so I'm looking at Vango galli's at the end of the season

I also have a Motordome, and I have to say it was one of the best buys I made for the van. Excellent and worth every cent.

You don't say if you want somthing that looks retro or modern.
If you want retro jK,s retro is good but it takes a bit longer to erect.
I use pole and clamp. It's not as important as to how far you park next to the awning. I tried fig of 8 but to get it tight you need to park mm perfect!
