Electronic display for gauges

Does anyone know of a successfully installed display that can show oil temp, pressure, mpg, coolant temp, tachometer etc?
I have seen some know YouTube with raspberry pi's but wondered if anyone here has had any success?
I have some Audi vdo gauges but mounting them will be a pain so thought this might be a good alternative?

I currently run scangauge on my Tdi, but I'm looking at either arduino or rasp pi powered colour display showing more detail rather than just 4 items on two lines of lcd
But this is possible because of the Tdi's obd port, what engine have you got because without obd you'll have to look at external sensors to pick up the required values

Hi, regarding OBD support on VW 1.8 'GTI' engines, I've worked on a few, namely 2E, AGG and ADY, and also a much later AWT 1.8t from an A4. Though the Golf 3 engines mostly had a K-line and OBD port, and could be connected to with VCDS, there was no OBD2 support so unfortunately won't work with a Scangauge. If you have a very late Mk3 engine, with a metal-cased 68-pin ECU, it *might* work, as they mandated OBD2 in the US in '96.
However the Mk3 Golf ECU's do have the MFA trip computer fuel-consumption signal, so if you were to fit a later dash with an MFA (eg. Mk4 Golf) you would at least get the fuel economy display (current & average MPG, journey time etc.)

Unfortunately I have an early Mk1 golf gti engine (Kjet) so no ecu etc. Just the sensors my gauges use.
