Hi,

Quick history - been having problems on motorway runs, hesitation under load, low power on hills etc. etc... 81 Aircooled CJ

After cleaning fuel tank, new lines, checking electrics, vacuum leaks and more i decided to rebuild the carbs, so far so good, but got a couple of quick questions if i may, this is the right carb from the back btw

1, should the hole in the center of the body have a blanking screw in it? If you slide the inner collar out the hole goes all the way through. there was no screw, or blank in it?

2, Throttle play, is this too much when flap open? If so what can i do? See video below.

Yet to remove the main carb, thought i'd start with the simpler one

Cheers

Hello,

Your post is a bit wonky... :?

The vid (11 secs) has a lot of play in the throttle butterfly.. you may have idling problems.

Here is mine:

Bushings are available. :)

Hope this helps.

Cordialement,

:ok

There should be a grub screw in the hole it holds the venturi in position.

There will be some side to side play in the butterfly, you only need to worry if there is play when the butterfly is closed.
More important is looking for is up and down play where the bushes have worn oval.
