Exhaust patching

(under discussion is a 2.1MV, syncro running on LPG)
Hi guys, can I quickly pick your brains?
Right, no matter what I patch my exhaust with the van just burns through it! Basically the knuckle before the final J tube on the 2.1 is "feck", so the J tube can only bolt on properly by one bolt, and only slightly on one other, leaving the third one free. It just about holds the olive in, but it still blows from there and is really loud. Plus it's throwing my lambda readings out and messing up my already woeful MPG!
I'm replacing the whole lot in January, so just want to patch up, plus the bolts holding the knuckle to the other pipes are totally mangled. I've patched with gun gum tape. Lasted a day. I've used the heavy duty woven stuff. Lasted a week. I've used aluminium tape. Lasted a couple of miles. As it's in an awkward spot I can't wrap a can or metal repair piece around it so I'm asking if anyone has a magical, flexible tape like product that could fix my solution for a few months?
Thanks!
