Sump Plug Repair

Hi
After getting the van when i did the first oil change i found that the sump plug had minimal thread left. It's all secure but i want to get it finally sorted properly. I was going to do a helicoil repair but have now realised the plug that is in is not standard so i don't know if it's already been tapped out to a larger size and without dropping it i can't tell - i don't want to disturb things in case.

With this i'm thinking to take it somewhere to get sorted professionally. Any recommendations for anywhere in Bucks/Beds or surrounding areas that would have experience an ability to sort this? Failing that is this something you'd recommend i need to take to a VW specialist (figured they may have seen this a 100 times) or just a capable garage is fine

Thanks alot

A stripped thread on a sump is a pretty common problem with many vehicles and a good mechanic should be able to sort it fairly easily. Be careful mind - I've just re-tapped mine to M18 which is pretty much the end of the line.
