Hi All,

I can ignite the fridge on gas by holding in the button with the flame pic and pressing the igniter button.

However the button with the flame does not stay depressed ie engaged.

Any ideas.thanks.

It's not supposed to stay depressed. If the red light stops flashing it means the flame is lit and the fridge is working. You can check by looking in the little window. The flame should be just visible.

If you lay on the floor with your leg around your neck you have a chance of seeing the flame. :D

Thanks for the input. But I am certain it stayed depressed when on. Even the manual says to disengage the button by pressing one of the other two buttons.

Arhhh! you are talking about the mechanical 'multi push button switch block' ???

These just need a good lube from the rear (if you can access) and just work it....it is very common for the mechanism to dry out and stick.

I had to dismantle mine (rm189) and rebuild and glue the parts. Was a pain but I quite enjoyed it and it's worked great ever since. Part of the mechanism had snapped but was held in place. My buttons used to stick.

Not sure if they are the same as yours.

I've had to put Dropbox links to images as the hosting that had the originals is no more.
I added a new igniter and took it out and upside down for 24 hours and get ice now.

Good luck!

Hi All.

The point is it's not staying depressed in when lit. So it's the opposite of being stuck in.

Thanks

As Middle29 says the plastic on that switch will most likely have broken slightly so won't latch. Think it is a bit that springs into the metal frame around the plastic.

You can actually run the fridge on gas like this. You need to keep the round button pressed down as usual and hold down the square gas button until the igniter has done its job and lit the flame. Once it has stopped clicking to show the flame is lit (and the control panel led should confirm this) you can let go of the square button, leave the round one held down a few more seconds until the thermocouple has opened the gas valve.

The only problem is that if the flame goes out for any reason it will not automatically start up the igniter again to relight the flame. Not a safety problem as the thermocouple will soon shut off the gas but inconvenient if your beers get warm. I was running the fridge like this a couple of years and think the flame only went out once during this time and that was when driving.

If any of the other buttons (i.e. 12V or 240 V) break you can always dismantle the switch and swap the broken bit to the gas one so the electric ones stay latched. Unlike the gas switch these ones need to be latched in for the electric element to heat. Even better if you can attempt a repair as Middle29 did - thats further than I got.

All 3 buttons are connected by the same mechanism - a plastic bit pushes to the right or left as you push it in and disengages the other 2 while locking in the one you have pushed. so I suspect the springs come off or a bit of plastic has snapped so it's not locking. Does it pop out the other switches still?

Although it's possible yours works differently as its a different model
