Timing and the advance

Hello all,
I have just done my timing;
Got the engine up to temp first
Disconnected the idling unit and connected the two plugs together
Disconnected the vacuum advance ( single vacuum DF)
Set the timing so the ignition dimple was in line with the seam crank case
So I reconnected the idling unit and connected the advance and it seems the mark moved forward around 5 - 7 degrees is this what should happen?
