There is a seller on eBay who will cut from photo or to code, not bad for a tenner. No good if you already bought blanks

The local key cutting guy has retired or I would have asked him, most of the key cutting places are franchises and I was not sure they would be able to anything a bit different?

It's just a key, nothing special. Simple job really.

Slightly off topic, but Zammo from grange hill used to run my local key shop :D

In answer to my question, no, 3 places said they could not or were not willing to undertake as the key was double sided and too thin, ended up in an expensive locksmiths.

I have had numerous VW keys cut with no problems and they have always had the blanks to begin with. You must have some pretty clumsy keycutters in your vicinity, Nothing difficult or unusual about double sided keys.
