Ok, so finally after years of enduring a terrible flat spot (from idle to pulling away) and trying everything but a significant look or clean/rebuild if the carburettor, it's time people!
So the gasket kit is here, the carburettor is removed, the Haynes manual read.
One thing is already unclear from the Haynes manual regarding the accelerator pump and associated fuel discharge, which states 'Check also the injected fuel strikes the collar in the discharge arm and bend the injection tube if necessary'. What's the discharge arm (not shown in manual)?. I've got a hunch what it is but can't currently photograph it as the phone's camera has packed up (so did the oven, it's one of those weeks).
Help much appreciated, plus any other thoughts, guidance and words of encouragement. Tried the wife for encouragement but she just said 'you'll be fine' but despite doing this sort of thing years ago, feel currently out of touch due to lack of practice.

Thanks for that, useful carb rebuild tips in there.
Doesn't specifically state or show what the collar of the discharge arm is, which I must assume is the central part within the carb venturi.

Still no joy regarding sorting the sluggish pulling away/ flat spot accelerating from start or low speeds, despite carb rebuild.
Any tips or ideas , particularly bfrom 1.9DF owners? Thanks in advance.

Can you list what you have done before you pinned on on the carb?

Hi kevtherev, efforts to date include: full service, carb vacuum hose replacement throughout, servo vacuum hose replacement and check with vacuum gun, air leak check on intake system (spray all joints with solvent cleaner to listen for engine note change), check on mechanical distributor advance/spring function, timing checks with gun (including functional advance checks), fuel pump delivery check, and now carb dismantle/clean.
Only issues I'm not sure about is the accelerator pump fuel stream target spot within the carb. The exhaust has always had a slight blow at rear right flange to engine and defies being fixed with a new gasket.
Any further thoughts or experience on 1.9DF engine flat spot from accelerating from a standstill or very low speeds appreciated. It doesn't do this when on choke (not sure if this is down to richer mixture or vacuum adnance). Thanks

Sorry to be a pest, but any thoughts, tips or advice on this would be appreciated. Still no dice on the ever-present flat spot and sluggish performance from a standing start (taking into account the 1.9 DF performance being 'pedestrian' at best)

The accelerator pump jet should be angled to hits the flange here so it hits the flange and sprays out into the airstream. Check the pump starts spraying as soon as you open the throttle no wear or slack in the linkage.
