I am convinced thay are the same part both sides, but they can develop a twist with age which effectively hands them.

Not the same, they are left and right and also 2 lengths, long for early and short for late vans.

I appreciate that early and late are different. What is the difference between the late type?
They look identical on my twin slider (I haven't checked part numbers in ETKA though)

I had a late twin slider and left handle was from another van so key would not work, so took off right handle and put on left door and key operation was in reverse. Part numbers not the same.

I think it was 83-84, the early type have a small plastic nub fitted to the door at the open end of the handle
