Another No Hi Beam thread (sorry)

Hi, first things first my doka is a 1987 diesel and I've lost my hi beam. First of all I thought it might be an earth issue as my crowns were a bit corroded from a previously leaky windscreen corner so I pulled the dash out, fitted new earth crowns and cut back and recrimped all the earths on the loom with fresh connectors, still no hi beam. Then I bought a new stalk but this still didn't work so I sent it back and bought a more expensive stalk from Mr Baxter, it still doesn't work. if I repeatedly pull the stalk it will very very occasionally flash for a microsecond but that's it, no flash and no hi beam, dipped beam works fine as do all my other electrics, so please can anyone shed any light on this. I've read no end of threads of a similar nature that end up with bad earths or faulty stalks but no definitive answers. What am I missing? is it worth trying a new switch on the dash? are there definitely no relays on the light circuit?
Thanks in advance James

From the factory there are no relays, but what's happened since , only you can see.....
I would try exchanging the headlight switch for another known working one ( beware there are a few different versions with different pin outs) and also check the actual multi plug that connects to the column stalk

I thought that the earths are near the headlamps not the crowns. Maybe wrong!

thanks for the replies. I'm ordering a new dash switch from Baxters next week, I'm pretty certain the headlight loom earths back to the 2 crowns by the main fusebox but I'm quite happy to be proved wrong. Anyone else have any input

the more ideas the merrier

I would add some new extra earns to the headlights as close to the actual lamp holder as possible anyway ....
Because it just makes sense

Right I've added 2 independent earths (one by each light) directly into a fresh rivnut in the bulkhead, still no hi beam but it's a good job done anyway

Fixed it! I am a twit, after hours of fiddling about I discovered the problem....
It was just this little plastic hook that wasn't latched in properly, in truth I didnt even know it existed till Elvis pointed it out to me
Now I have main beam again so it's MOT time
