A while ago I reversed into a low bollard and crumpled my backbox I've lived with it but I miss the note it used to have. It's a speedshop SS. I've got a feeling it's going to be pricey to replace
Is there a cheaper back box that will fit straight on?

Almost any silencer can be made to fit (he said, driving around with a big Kawasaki silencer). If it will fit the space, you just get or make an adapter to join the two. Find something more generic and its likely to be cheaper too - even if SS.

Given that the Speedshop one is sooo quiet I would say that you get what you pay for, against that most of the cost of the system is in all the bending and welding, not the silencer can (made by Phoenix iirc)

Yep thats it! I've emailed speedshop but it looks like its £300. All caused by a blown fuse so I didn't have reversing lights. 50p part! What that old proverb about tar?

Post a pic of the damage. They are quite thin walled, might even push out with a bit of hydraulic ingenuity...

That'll squeeze back into shape. The silencer is a straight through (I do not know how they get it to be so quiet!) so the internal perforated pipe should still be ok.
I would take it off and have a go before laying out 300 quid!

Blocks of wood and a hammer?

Squeeze, not beat. Rachet clamps and a workmate. You need to stop the can bulging as you push the high point back in.
Maybe make some wooden formers if you have access to a bandsaw?

No way I can make an adapter did you buy yours. I've emailed speedshop a few times but they haven't come back with a cost.

Been trying to get a price from Speedshop, perhaps they're on holiday. Does anyone know another cheaper backbox that will bolt straight on to existing pipework. I just dont like the exhaust note now

Sorry for late reply to post, I think it was my adapter that CovKid may have been referring to, after initially getting the inspiration from him in the first place I decided to go down the bike can route, that and a work mate offering me his brand new gsxr can for £20, a lot of bike riders seem to change the stock can, I made the adapter as the can has 4 bolts and of course the pipe has the standard 3. It really is so easy to do and any fabricator worth there salt could knock one up for you, sadly I would like to do one for you but some theiving toe rag decided that my garage was a good place to earn some cash and took my welder. A good starting point is to use a second hand link pipe for a gsxr as it comes with pipe and the 4 bolt flange, you can purchase the 3 bolt flange easily, then its just a slice and weld job. Also the rest of the link pipe left pushes nicely into the titanium tail to make the exhaust noise even smoother. I have had my can on for a few thousand miles with no issues at all its not loud, doesn`t alter performance and doesn`t discolour. If I was to need a new system I would just purchase the pipes and keep this can. I also think if you would have crushed this one something else would have broke first as they are a really solid lump.
