What's the most powerful conversion anyone's done?

I'm part way through a 2.1 pinto conversion on my van & I've got an idea that I might want to see how quick I can make it. So I'm wondering if the pinto will give me some serious grunt if I decide to upgrade a few bits, or whether I should go a different route now to avoid spending too much cash. I'd love to see the van do some runs down the strip & I'm curious as to the best/most powerful conversion options out there.

You'll do well to match that lot with the trusty Ford Pinto.

Looking at putting an MD 870 diesel engine in my `van, still looking for a good clutch and flywheel though.
