Fuel filler pipe - help re stockist needed urgently please

Hello folks

Van has been running sweetly , but booked it in to have fuel lines for tank replaced before heading on my big trip of 3 weeks around Ireland which should start next week. The van went into the garage this week ( the mechanic had postponed taking it in) and tonight he told me the tank isn't in good shape and needs replacing. I'm getting the parts. The van is a 1981 and had the old metal filler pipe and I'm needing to get a replacement plastic one to fit the new tank - can't find any stockist. Have checked Brickwerks, VW Heritage, Scholfield and Just Kampers and doesn't look to be in stock in any of them. I'm getting anxious that not being able to get the part will delay repairs and my long awaited holiday :(
Any ideas please ??

Also , just to check is there any difference in petrol tank for left or right hand van?
Thanks!

Julia

Don't think there is a difference in left / right hand drive, but depending on tank you get, you will need correct diameter filler neck to go with the specific tank.

From memory the old ones have a smaller inlet hole on tank so you need a narrower filler neck to match it.

There are adopters to make a narrow neck fit into a larger inlet style tank, but if you are buying the tank new anyway, it's easier to buy the matching stuff I suppose.

I think brickworks has all the info on the parts description, even if they have sold out.
