Hi all,

A bit stuck and hoping someone has the part number or even better can point me in the right direction -
The vans in the garage having the 1.7 d ky engine rebuilt, ordered most of the new parts already but they just called to say the 6mm Allen head bolts for the water pump and crank pulley are rather knackered.

I can't seem to find them anywhere, Hoping someone can help?
Also some exhaust studs but same issue

I've looked on Jk, vw heritage, cool air and brickwerks but no luck so far?

3 M8x20 for water pump
4 M8x47 for bottom pulley

Thank you, assume these aren't anything special so just google the size and order them up for wherever is easiest then?

Cap heads on both.

I recommend where possible (and if practical) that 13mm nuts are screwed on to slightly longer bolts as this makes removing them in the future a good deal easier. They generally get knackered in attempting to remove original bolts.

You wont find 47mm long stocked anywhere (VW special)
45mm or 50 are standard lengths.

Looks like it might be easier to just go and grab the old ones and match them up in person somewhere

Bit like CV bolts

Cap head or socket cap or Allen bolt etc
The pictured one is a shanked cap head

The old brand name often used for a cap or socket head screw is Allen (the original manufacturers way back)

Part number is obviously the one starting with N. Order them from VW/TPS.

Might be worth getting at least one of each of your old ones out if you can just to double check as so many variations on ETKA would hate to give you duff info but pretty confident these are the ones you need.

Will be hex head instead of splined/triple square.

Most good tool shops have assorted ones in a small divided plastic box for about £3. Thats how I obtained mine anyway. Heres another option:

That said, having fought with the old ones, I fitted nuts on to the bolts first so it gives two ways to get a fix on the bolts if they ever have to come out in the future. I had to get a couple of the old ones out with Irwin bolt removers and it made the job all the more harder - hence using nuts on the refit. You just screw them on until they come to a dead stop at the head. Works well. Has no real effect on refitting but removal is dead easy then.

I also recently discovered that silicone bakeware (ie bread tins etc) which stands very high temperatures and is cheap to buy, can be cut up for coolant gaskets. The thin stuff is best. Makes a perfect seal and lasts indefinitely.
