Timing for 2.0 what can I do

Hi all,

I have done the timing before but not on this engine type. The Dizzy came loose recently and has moved. Im now struggling to know how to get it back to where it should be. Its a 2.0 CU engine. There is a timing gauge in place with white dots on 0 and 7 but the only mark I can find is on the back of the pulley. Can I do this myself? or will it require someone in the know.

If it has the original dvda dizzy fitted, then the timing is ATDC at idle, I think it's 4 degrees. You will need to check that both vacuum advance and retard work properly before setting the timing though, there is info in this forum about it somewhere.

Just realised you've changed to Weber carbs, so you'll need to check if there is provision for the vacuum retard feed at idle, otherwise the timing won't be right (and without it the emissions at idle are worse)
