Devon 1982 lights/pump wiring (only working engine on)

My newly acquired 1982 devon has the original fittings in it by the looks of things. The 12v/gas fridge and water pump plus some lights in the roof.

The lights and water pump are working right on 12v, however only when the engine is running (i haven't had a long enough run to test if the fridge is on when switched to 12v but it works on gas). I have a dead 'leisure' battery under the passenger seat.

Were they originally wired so that they would automatically switch from leisure to stater battery when the engine runs, hence why i'm only getting power when its switched to charging?

Thanks for any help

You are only getting power with the engine running as the leisure battery is dead, replace it and normal service will be resumed. You cannot get power out of a dead battery!

So they originally came with leisure battery aswell? Does that mean they have a split charge system?
