Driveshaft flanges

Hi

I'm struggling to fit the washer and circlip on the nearside driveshaft. The offside was fiddly but reasonably straightforward, but the nearside just doesn't seem to have any leeway for the washer and the circlip....Any suggestions?

I take it you mean the CV joints to the drive shaft then you don't fit the washers they are for other vehicles the joints fit.

Thanks Bigherb

Sorry, I got my shafts and flanges mixed up, I replaced the oil seals on the gearbox and the problem is fitting the washer and circlip that holds the flange. Aiden explained the technique but it only seemed to work for the offside, the nearside seems to allow no space for both...which probably explains why it didn't have a washer when we took them off. Any ideas? Thanks again

Hi

I'm supposedly on the last lap getting the van back on the road (Yes, that same last lap I've been on for about five months). I have had no joy getting the spring washer and circlip onto the nearside flange. There doesn't seem to be any play, the circlip goes on, but unlike the offside flange, it won't have the washer as well. Any ideas?
