I have to replace the hoses that link the two expansion tanks.

How much hose do I need and can someone please confirm that the inside diameter is 5,5mm, also what is the outside diameter (7 or 8mm)?

I have found the correct hose clips - One Ear hose clips.

Fairly sure it is 5.5. When I did mine, I replaced entire fuel line front to back as one and what was left over did the expansion tanks. Outside diameter doesn't matter really. Local motor factors had good quality stuff.

Not sure what you mean by link the expansion tanks they are independently connected to the fuel tank, there is no pipe between the two tanks .
5.5/6/7 any of those bores will do, the larger outside dia is more likely high pressure hose for fuel injection systems there shouldn't be any pressure in the breather pipes so standard fuel hose will do. 1mtr usually covers it, more if you use fuel hose all the way through.

My mistake sorry. I meant the hose that links the expansion tanks to the main tank not to each other.

The front to back was replaced when the engine conversion was done but I suspect that the converter didn't replace the hoses to the expansion tanks. It started dripping fuel last time I tanked.

You may find its the grommets on the top of the tank that are either missing, kn*ckered or not fitted correctly as fuel is only meant to end up in those pipes if the weather gets hot and the fuel needs to escape.

Thanks, I'll have to find the part number for those as well.

When I tanked it was about 28c and I filled the tank to the bumpstop, so I think it's more likely to be down to expansion.

VW number is N901 004 01, you need three of them.

Getting the expansion tank hoses on can be a cramped job with the stubs sometimes out of reach. Heres my tip. Moisten the end of the hose (think I resorted to spit) and 'screw' the hose on and down. They don't need clamps if the fit is nice and snug.

Good Tip - I looked under this evening - VW didn't use clamps.

No the ones on top of the expansion tanks are bigger at 23x35mm VW part number N901 005 01

Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs or put the frights up them but I had some bad experience with this set up:
Some time after a tank refit I was touring in France and without realizing the implications took on a full tank of petrol at a petrol station with a badly sloping forecourt. It was an early start and a very cold start to the day. Later it got very hot and when we stopped later on I smelt petrol - probably due to expansion of the fuel load This had never happened before but persisted for many miles to the point that we declined to use the three way fridge on gas that night and only filled to half a tank until we got home.
Upon investigation at home I couldn't find an obvious problem but took the tank down and refitted it. Due to the jumble of tubing etc and lack of space however I guessed that I had mucked up the process first time round. I don't know whether it is my particular model but I feel the complex array of tubing in a confined space is a bit tricky least ways without a lift and equipment.
It took several full tanks and repeated use of Mark One hydrocarbon detector before I was satisfied. I guess I would prefer a diesel engine in terms of fire safety but...
