My bus tends to run a little warm on the gauge but never overheats so I was wondering if this had anything to do with the noisy fan? Being noisy I guess it's not turning as freely as it should therefore not shifting sufficient air perhaps?...
Before I shell out for a replacement, does anyone have any experience of this? How do I access the fan to clean or lubricate it?

I don't think the fan should be running at 'normal' temperatures. Mine only kicks in if I am stationary - such as in queues of traffic.
So it won't be the noisy fan that's causing the temperature to be higher than it should be.

Thanks for the reply. You are of course correct - maybe I wasn't clear: when the fan comes on (in stationary traffic etc) it's noisy so I'm wondering if it's sticking a bit and therefore not cooling as it should.

Either way, the fan is noisy/screechy and I want to quieten it

Screeching is a sign of bearing death.
I don't think you can lubricate them
Removal is described very well in the Haynes.
But once the spare is out you'll see how to remove it anyway

There were different motor sizes, however, the common late two speed motor is a bit of a beast (500watt?) not sure exactly.
With it being two speed I am wondering if you have a faulty thermo-switch and what you are hearing is 'FULL ON' 2nd speed...basically missing first speed (hence the higher temp) then giving it full on 2nd speed.

1st speed comes on at 87°C and goes off again at 76°C
2nd speed comes on at 93°C and that goes off at 82°C
