Distributor Advice

Hi All

I am as mechanically minded as a slug so please bare with me. I have a petrol 2.0 Aircooled beauty named Bertha who seems to be having a little problem with her get up and go. After some investigation ( by a very nice RAC man) and some prodding and poking by t'other half we have come to the conclusion that the problem is with the distributor. So my question to you T25 Oracles is " where can I get a bloody distributor that fits?" I have scoured the t'internet and my brain is now hurting from the plethora of differing views and information.

Cheers

Claire

What is actually the problem with the distributor they can be repaired.
The correct one is only available second hand other types can be fitted but are not as good as the original and some small modifications and adjustments have to be made.

Hi Herb.
Bertha was sparking intermittently we ( nice RAC man) checked the obvious and put it down to the distributor. On further investigation we noticed that the hall sender was loose causing damage to the wires which unfortunately during the "prodding and poking" diagnostic process then broke totally. I know its possible to change the hall sender but it does seem such a faff.

If you can't fix the original there is a useful youtube video by sarran1955 about replacement with a more modern type.

Replace the hall sender it is actually quite easy, better than fitting something that is not as good.

So would the hall sender be the one from Just Kampers?

I was aware of it however that was missing. Luckily a new one was supplied with the new hall sender. I can't tell you how chuffed we are that we managed to sort it ourselves with just a little research and some friendly advice.
