Hiya, apart from not knowing how to upload piccies, anyone know where I can get a refurb engine for my T25 Westfalia?? I have the original engine at the moment, but my mechanical man suggests I now get a re[lacemant as it is leaking lots of oil, and would probably be cost effective to replace. it has done 250,000 miles, and needs a rest. Oh, and I need it to be installed......I've been looking around, but I am monumental in choosing wombats to do anything............been ripped off more times than velcro.
I use the camper on a daily basis.
Anyone? :0)
Thank you.

I will translate for you because thats technical talk

Take it to somebody who knows T25s

take it to Elite VW and get Michael to look at it, he'll be straight with you and if you like what he has to say you'll go with them and I think be happy but it'll cost you nothing but the fuel to go there to find out, if you ring ahead and make an appointment you'll get 1/2 hour of his time for nothing.
I'd avoid the engine shop like a dog turd on the street, but just my opinion, others will slag off elite and some will praise TES it all depends on your experience, all I know is I had 3 engines from Elite in or for different vehicles and they are all still running more than 10 years later and I have sent a good few customers theresince who have all been extremely happy; nothing beats face to face though

I had an elite engine 10000 miles ago and I'm still happy. As said above some are not so happy. Cost about £1500 with a recovery and fitting!

Hi. I wrote a reply thanking you all but it slid down a plug 'ole or something....second try. Thank you, I will contact the Michael, and pick his brains with as much insight to engines as I can muster!!
In reply to "which engine?" No idea.
I have a 1600.....diesel with a Turbo.
Came with the T25.
Stupidly didn't think I'd need to know more than where to put diesel in and water without getting the two confused.
In my youth I drove across Europe in a 2cv and as I reached some place with snow, was panicking 'cos I couldn't find where to put the antifreeze in.......went to so many garages, trying to explain in sign language....not easy. Xxxxxx

For diesels AWE in Blackburn/burnley. (Think they are known as AW Engineering).
Only place I'd get a diesel standard exchange from.
However, as has been said, get a second opinion from an expert.
Would hate for your oil leak to be a poorly turbo that a new engine doesn't fix!

if I'd realised you had a diesel, sorry wasn't looking, I'd have said they all do that and that's why I wouldn't have one as I have never come across a jx that could keep all three fluids inside it all the time

Hiya, no, not well off.......I have just bought a T25! Even less well off, as there are lots of things to be considered if you want to KEEP the thing!!! Alarm and tracker was something I felt I must have, or it's kinda open season.........
I have invested a lot of time in this li'l camper. I am 65 and don't want to be half way up a mountain for something silly to go ping!
I have just had a habitation chappy go over everything, £100 for peace of mind, I think was worth it. Especially after he tested the trickle charger that my mechanicy man had supposedly checked....it smoked !!!!!!
Anyhoo, gonna check out the places you all have advised..............I am in Colchester.
Thank you everyone for helping.....shall upload or download what I have done thus far! (All reversible)
Piles of smiles! xxxxxx
