1Y engine number, where to find?

Can somebody please help me with this?
I have fitted a 1Y engine and want to update the log book. Will I find the engine number with the engine fitted easy enough? Or can I get the engine number from the registration?
Any help appreciated. Cheers, Jon.

Stand at rear bumper looking at engine. Third injector in, water hose exits head. Underneath this find where the head gasket is between block and head.
Under head gasket , on block is a machined flat surface approx 15mm high by 90mm.
Stamped on this. Will say "1Y *******" with numbers.
It's quite obvious when you know where it is.
Might need some carb cleaner and a bit of scotchbrite.
