Low cost air fuel gauge for WBX

There isn't much choice in the low cost gauges, I bought this one but with it's colour changing back light and smoked front it is better suited to a Saxo.

So I prized the bezel off and swapped the smoked window ( which you can't see through in bright sunlight) with clear plastic.

The annoying colour changing light can be disabled by cutting one of the wires to the front panel, you could rig up a white LED ut I don't drive much at night and I can live without that.

Once the bezel is off the needle tends to catch so trim that off.

Fit to pod is best by adding a piece of packing material.

There you are low cost gauge.

Yes four wire sensor, bog standard
Usual colours...
Two white are heater ( needs permanent ignition 12v)
grey is batt negative black is signal.
Signal is 0.8V for rich and 0.2V for lean

Gauge has ignition 12v, batt negative and signal.

Cool. I had seen some cheap stepper motor analogue ones with a digital readout on the face for accurate values but they didnt actually say they were narrow band.
Analogue has to be better than leds constantly flashing.

Wideband gauges are alot more expensive, if it's low cost and doesn't say it will be narrowband. I agree a T25 needs an analogue guage :D

I guess there is little demand in europe for these gauges because of the dash for diesel and modern electronic control systems

IMO anybody with an LPG system should gave one of these, it's the only way to know how your system is behaving.
Don't assume it will remain as originally set up ( assming it was ever set up right). People having LPG fitted could ask for the guage to be fitted at the same time.

Useful also for fault finding on standard petol setup, mine was recently not running right on petrol, it was clearly lean so fuel starvation not ignition.

Harder to fit to early exhaust vans because all the four exhaust pipes don't come together, you will not be seeing the average for all cylinders but assuming they are all similar then it can be done.

The one I spotted was the DEPO dual view, with the LED display. Not the cheapest but but not wideband money! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEPO-racing-5 ... Sw1S9WgVFl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

smoked
means dark glass with permanent backlight hard to see in sunlight.
