What Interior Insulation to Use

Could someone who has walked the walk before me recommend what to line the camper with which will keep it warmer in the winter (most of the year) and bearable on those rare warm days. I have looked on ebay at foil, bubble, foam, dacron etc and would like some advice from someone who has the T shirt and thermals. Cheers

I'm just doing mine with Kiravan foil faced insulation. It's marvellous to work with. As for its effectiveness, look at their website and judge fir housefly if they'd use anything that wasn't up to the job.

That the 7mm stuff? Just about to order some. Where have you put it? You using this on the floor, can't decide if it is dense enough?

What about some genuine caravelle floor insulation.

I know someone who is having their van re-lined and they are about to spray exxpandable foam in any cavity they find ( ooh err missus !) I have suggested that this may not be the best idea as there would be nowhere for any water / condensation to escape and would therefore "rest" on the foam and eventually rot the panels. Would this be correct ?
Cheers :ok

Expandable spray foam is not normally closed cell so can become waterlogged. I saw the result of a mate's boat where he had it sprayed into a void - it just acted like a giant sponge! Took him ages to dig it all out.

Any point insulating the floor. I know some heat los will occur, but as the majority of heat rises well this make much difference?

Given the wind chill factor as the winter gale blows on the wet floor underneath it makes sense to insulate it. No good having a hot head with blocks of ice for feet.

Should read 'judge for yourself'.

It's the only insulation product the Kiravan sell, and yes I've fitted it to the floor. In fact I've put it everywhere I can get to, battery boxes included. Just got the roof to do. Has it made a difference? Loads to the sound within the van, however, the wind noise has become more noticeable so I'll need to address that next.

I was going to ask for suggestions on what to use but I guess the kiravan stuff would be good.

The site suggests about 10sheets for a t5 is that about right?

I've just replaced the original yellow sponge type material with a recycled plastic loft insulation from b&q. Good price and won't hold water

5 sheets?? It comes off the roll as long as you like, I think it's 1 metre wide. I've bought 5 metres just for doing the front cab area, I can't believe how much I've used so get extra to be sure.
