Foot water pump (Whale) - not working

My fresh water pump isn't working. I have a Whale foot operated electrical switch.
Nothing happens when i put my foot on it.
I have prised off the cover to reveal 2 terminals. It looks like inside the plastic block (the connector) has broken off.
The terminal nearest the cupboards, I have tested 12V is coming through fine.
How do I test if it's the switch? Do I have to bridge the terminals. Is there a method of doing this or do you just have to have a piece of wire to make the connection?

just bridge the connections with a bit of wire, its only 12v it wont hurt you
the switches are readily available from any caravan shop for a fiver or so

I replaced mine recently , bought the switch from cak tanks (comet dome foot switch I think) only used them as getting some other bits at the time.

Just bridged the connection with wire and nothing happens. Checked with the volt meter and 12V is passing over the terminals when bridged.
The only conclusion I suppose now the submersible water pump has had it.

normally there is a junction before the tank, so the tank can be removed without taking the pump out, check there for power

Thanks for the replies.
My water filler tube cap is in the panel beneath the rock and roll bed, though no pump there

When I got my van the water system hadn't worked in years, so I dismantled it and replaced filters one way valves etc all parts seem readily available and none are to expensive. I think mine all came from Cak tanks.
Don't buy there tank cleaner though as it's just Brewers disinfectant and is much cheeper from wilkinson's.

I've never sterlised my tank as I have one of those fancy natural pure water system filters inline.
Tastes better then Evian when it's working!
Pricey but well worth it no more lugging water bottle around etc

Sounds interesting I moved to Edinburgh not that long ago and going from london tap water the stuff that comes out of the tap here tastes like spring water to me.
