Hello, I wonder if anyone might be able to help? We have these slightly worrying looking spiderweb-like cracks appearing in our hi-top (pictured). Is this normal? Any idea what we should do about it?

Impact crazing to the gel coat - stone, ball bearing or something like that. Difficult to cure without scratching out each line and filling with gel coat filler. What I do when the sight of them on mine gets too much is scrub them clean as best you can and then plenty of wax polish over the area - not a permanent cure but does prevent the growths and dirt getting a hold for a while.
The good thing is that it is usually just cosmetic and doesn't affect the watertightness of the grp.

It is cosmetic but if you want to get rid of it as Oldie said but the longer you leave it the worse it gets, water gets into the cracks and it is a pig to get out of the fiberglass. How do I know, I had a Lotus they are renound for it.

I think rake out the grot with an old chisel or something to make the hairlines proper vee grooves, then after wiping away all the debris, fill with Milliput (white). You can smooth it with a damp cloth or your wet finger while still going off and get a pretty good surface, even without sanding. Then polish well.

If it was me I would rake out and use gel coat filler as said before, it will expand and contract the same as the fiberglass. It is available in most car accessory shops like Halfords.
