Hi I've got problems with my 1987 t25 1.9dg engine oil pressure buzzer ! Engine kicks in no problem but after about 3-4 mins buzzer sounds. Took to local vw garage he said could be oil pump ? Replaced oil pump still going off. Getting slight knocking every now and again, engine pressure 1 & 2 106 3 & 4 110!! Was told could be engine rebuild £100's of £'s Maybe ? . So I bought an engine over weekend guy said had wrong carb on so I can swap mine over. He's the Dilema do I risk stripping mine down what's in place now spend time n money doing this to get to the problem ? Or do I fit this engine ive bought risk it and hope it's ok ? Was told it just need exhaust manifold bolt replacing as snapped and carb change. If I use engine bought what gaskets etc would you recommend. Thanks in advance. Any help welcome.

Wow where to start.
to know if your oil buzzer is real low pressure or not your garage should have done a pressure test.
You could do this yourself too with a 30 quid ish guage but first check buzzer wiring.

The Buzzer should only sound if revs are above 2000. Is this what happens?
If the buzzer sounds at idle, you have an electrical fault.

Slight knocking could also be tappets or engine mounts, not really proof of a duff engine.
I'm not saying it isn't duff just saying don't jump to conclusions do some proper tests

Forgot to mentioned when I drove it engine fine on start up went for a little run out buzzer sounded lost a lot of power but still drive-able ! Haven't run it since been in garage but have started up a couple of times.

If anyone lives near stoke-on-Trent and could pop over to have a gander will give them some beer money

they look like compression figures in psi for each cylinder, thats got nothing to do with oil pressure.

That's all the info I have ! I wasn't too happy with the mechanic to be honest. Left the van in a mess seems as though he wasn't bothered ,,

Ok so best to check the engine you have first.
The one you bought may or may not be any good but did you check it was a DG and not a DF you bought as it has the wrong carb. Any other history on the one you bought?

from the wiki
HarryMann: Removed the complete DOPWS chip without affecting other dashboard functions... after 200 miles it was that or go totally maad! Oil pressure fine (1 bar per 1000 rpm on a diesel, probably pretty similar on petrols)
