hello! sorry to bother you all. I have 2 1986 T25s. One with a 5 speed gearbox one with a 4 speed. My mechanic has switched the five speed with the 4 speed which I have had repainted and want to get on the road. I am having real difficulty finding the gears now with the 4 speed box. Does anyone have any idea what else I need to change to make the 4 speed gearbox work in what was previously a 5 speed box T25. Thankyou for any help you can reply with.

Have you changed the linkages and gearstick from a four speed box as well.?

When my five speed box went wrong it damaged the linear bearing housing in one of the castings. After a long wait for the mender (I didn't know of Adrian at that time) I got it back and machined an aperture for a steel sleeve insert. I also had to source the Cage and balls assemblies for him. He said problem at that time was a rarity of casings for these boxes.
However I do find the layout confusing especially jumping straight into the camper after driving the Focus. You don'd say if it is a mechanical problem or trouble with the mandraulics?

The OP sent me a PM stating only the box had been changed. The five speed stick and linkages had not.
