Got this message when I switched on. (I haven't used the machine for a while)

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

Does anybody know if it is fixable easily? I have the following discs:

Dell Drivers and utilities
Dell Reinstallation cd recovery media windows for XP Home edition service pack 3
Webcam central software
and an unopened Microsoft works 9.0 office home and support 2007 trial

Please excuse me if this is totally numpty but computers are just not my thing!!
Many thanks

Copy & paste your error message into google & you will get plenty of advice on the problem. https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei= ... 0xc000026c+(0x00000000+0x00000000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).+The+system+has+been+shut+down.

The Dell laptop computer I am using now is a victim of W10 given to me by a mate who couldn't work it any more. As an XP fan I tried to load it with XP for my workshop but found that Dell apparently put the drivers in the BIOS or similar so I had to get a geek mate to install W7 on it for me. Clever as I think I am this is all over my head however.
Cheers

Did that Jeff , I just got confused. I was just wondering if someone knew if it was fixable or do I chuck it. CS, if it's over your head it's way over mine.

Worth checking to see if the bios date needs re-setting - due to lack of use the rechargeable battery on the mainboard may have gone flat. Enter bios on start up to check - usually hold down delete key whilst powering on but yours may have a different key.

Aye, I'm here now. Been away at Bustypes and at a mates house last night.
As XP is dead now, and an older Dell Notebook likely won't work well, or at all, with 7, it's an obvious Linux candidate :ok

You will have a PM soon :)
