Hi all,
We have a 1989 T25 leisure drive camper van (RHD) which has a sliding window behind the driver above the cooker & fridge on the o/s of the vehicle. We've never opened it, if it's nice weather when in use we just open the sliding door on the passenger side. In all honesty the window is rubbish, it rattles, appears to leak and let's a huge draft in for anyone sat in the back. It also has a major security issue with just a little flip down tab on the bottom of it to supposedly lock it. The felt on the vertical strip in the centre between the two pieces of glass appears to have perished and having looked at these windows 2nd hand at trade stands at shows or on eBay it seems that there are several different sizes as its non standard, not VW factory fit.
I'm considering replacing the window with a solid (non-sliding) piece of glass, but haven't got a clue who could make one? Or can anyone do a better job of over hauling what's there ( new internal felt seals+ more substantial lock). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (South Yorkshire area)

I spoke to a company near me that would basically renew all felt, inner rubbers etc on mine. Apparently they unscrew, do all the work and fit back together. They couldn't give me a price as it was per hour then maybe plus parts and they didn't really know how long it would take. I sacked it off and decided to just fit the window and it has been fine since. Yeah the felt has gone, just need to be careful opening in, bit of TLC. It doesn't leak water or let in draughts. Was fitted by a pro that sealed it all up.

Depending on condition, you can buy the stuff yourself and overhaul it. Pay the cash and have it all done nicely, no stress or even buy something new and have the hole widened/shortened by a welder.

Oh, one of the panes was cracked. I went to a local car glass supplier who bonded in a piece for £10. Said he had to root around for an old piece of glass to suit.

This is the place I'm on about. They were very helpful just didn't seem to want me to waste money on my old window. That or just couldn't be bothered doing it!
