Hi, think that is where I got my gas struts from a while back. From memory they are all the same length but ideally the two pairs should have slightly different pressures - one to hold up and one to make lowering easier. Hopefully SGS etc can advise.
Sounds like you are cracking on with your van!

Thanks Julia
I spoke to them but they were a little non comittal without me being able to give part numbers, which I do understand, oh well, might have to wait.
Getting there, other half suddenly decided she wants to use it this year so the pressure is on lol

Might I tell you a little hint?
I was last year experiencing the same problem, also my gas struts weren't working properly after 36 years.
Lookup for a german company called "Stablius" with their product named "lift-o-mat".
They have the so needed gas struts with the part-n° 084603.
But, work isn't ready yet - you'll have to drill the lug from 8mm to 10mm, otherwise it won't fit.
Here are the hardfacts about those original gas struts:
300n
8mm diameter
200 mm lift
Lug for M10 (or 10mm)
You'll find also a small pair of tension belts veeery useful to build in those gas struts.
If some needs a little bit more information about this topic, here's a little bit more (attention - everything is written in german):

Well, good luck to you!

Steve,
I managed to get the van out today and put the roof up and take a picture of the struts, both are 19" between centres when extended , I think I found that I had to pre-compress them about 1/4" to 1/2" to put them on.
They are two different load ratings 450 & 300 newtons
These are from SGS so if you sent them the pictures with the part numbers they may be able to help.
Regards
Pete

Just admiring your roof. .was the 450 the vertical or the horizontal? Slap is that a rubber seal around the inner frame?

Hi,
Sent PM to you. 450 is the vertical strut. The black rubber seal around the joint between the van roof and the lower fibreglass moulding is more for decoration than a seal. The rubber is a C section about 12-15 mm deep that is pushed over the bare edge of the fibreglass moulding. I put sealant inside the C and pushed it over the fibreglass edge, then pop riveted it to the van roof and then put a bead of sealant between the outer part of the C rubber and the roof to seal it. The pop rivets are hidden under the rubber; not found any leaks yet.
Have a look at the the thread below as well.

Hi, anyone in the US that has solved this issue? SGS will not ship to the US or internationally and I have a Devon Moonraker that needs the full roof system now that Im restoring it.
