1982 T25 Westfalia heater not working?

Hey all,
We have a T25 Westfalia and we've started prepping it for a drive around Europe in June.
Although we may not need it, we'd like to get our fitted heater working but have no idea where to start!
We think it's the original heater, but neither of us have ever seen a heater like this before, let alone repaired one!
Do you have any information or advice on how to get it working or who could get it working? We're in Kent, UK.
Here are some pictures, my boyfriend removed all of the casing to reveal two holes?!?! one has wires running through it, a battery and no idea what the silver box is.
Many thanks for any help or advice!

The two holes are the vents for the heater which is under slung beneath the van. The the silver box is a control box of sort (I think for the heater) and the metal triangles in the last pic direct the hot air out of the vent at the base of the kick board. It's an eberspacer heater you have. Are you a diesel or petrol van?
I've had a shop looking at mine (petrol version) and there are several things it could be but a good start is to check if you have cold air coming through when you turn it in via the brown control box.
I finally gave up with mine as the suspected culprit was an ignition spark generator and the cheapest we could find was from the US at $210 so I decided to fit a new propex heater from Just Kampers and it's great. Runs from the onboard lpg tank

Thanks a lot for all the info!
It makes small sound for the cold setting but nothing for the hot. We couldn't feel any air coming out.
It's a 2L Petrol engine.
We'll probably play around with it at the weekend, how easy is it to remove the heater from the bottom of the van?
Thanks again!

Just to clarify that the black box under the seat with LG20 written on it is the battery charger (charges batteries when you are on electric hookup) and has nothing to do with Eberspacher heater

You can find the manuals for the heater on this page:

Cheers,

Does it blow cold air (all be it weakly) if you switch it on at the controller? If so flick the switch over to 'hot' and you should hear a ticking noise from below the sliding door (heater fuel pump).
After about 30 seconds the fan should speed up and after a couple of mins tepid air will wheeze out ....have patience...these heaters take a while to warm up but do work well once at temp.
If the fan shuts off after 30 seconds when you select hot, start the engine and then try again....heater very voltage sensitive, if your leisure battery is low it wont work.
