Anybody fitted one?

Seems like all the local trimmers are booked up for months ahead and I want it doing while the glass is out after the respray. It looks like it could be mission impossible

Doable if you have a lot of patience and a helping hand. Windscreen out and work your way from front to rear.

Don't rush it or you'll rip it..

I'm assuming you've got all the rods and plastic ends that go into the bodywork.

Am I right in thinking that the material can be shrunk, I assume with a heat gun?

I have heard that- the newton commercial headliner comes with an instruction cd... i had a mate did a split years ago and swore never again

The old headliner seems to have had a very heavy duty grey coloured double sided tape along the edges. Did you use it and where can I get the same stuff? Also, the spring clips on the sides: do you leave them flat and push the lining behind them, or open them up and tuck it behind then push them flat?

Do the steel rods rest against the roof when they are in the hats?

Correct. I used really thin neoprene fabric between rods/roof to a) stop it vibrating and b) keep it nicely wedged in.

Bit of a resurrection, but how do you use the spring clips above the doors? Do you bend them out and tap back when the fabric is behind them, or do you push the fabric up behind them with a credit card or similar?

Have just done mine this evening. Yes you open up the tabs a bit. Put some masking tape along to protect your paintwork and spray some high temp glue up under the tabs. Then you can spray some on the back of your liner and stretch it down and stick it first to the bottom edge of the tab. Then trim the excess off with a one sided razor blade leaving half an inch extra. Then use a credit card to push it up under the tab. It will stay where you put it thanks to the glue. You don't need to tap down the tabs until the entire headliner has been fitted. Use an offcut of carpet or something to cushion your hammer and don't hit too hard or it will cut the fabric.

Brilliant, thank you. How was the windscreen removal and refitting? How did up finish off the rear edge where the cardboard was?

I had only fitted the windscreen with a new seal a few weeks ago so it was easy enough to get it out again.
At the rear edge there is a cardboard strip sewn onto the fabric. Once you tuck it in under the tabs it's invisible because it's on the underneath of the vinyl. I didn't use any glue along the rear edge, seemed to hold just fine without it.
