Hi all

I have a 1984 westfalia club joker high top and the roof leaks a little. The bus has been at the garage to have some work done over winter and has been stored outside.

I went to collect today and there is loads of Mould everywhere.

Can anyone recommend a good cleaner for upholstery, headlining etc

Do you recommend a steam cleaner ?

Can I wash the bed covers ?

Removal will be largely a matter of elbow grease and a variety of proprietary products of individual choice - watch this thread.
However having got our van very cheap on the basis that the same problem had overwhelmed the previous owner we have a very strict regime whereby the fridge and the van furniture is cleaned and wiped over with an antiseptic product if possible the day after our return from every trip but defo sharp toot. We also have strict ban on the eating of disgusting and mold inducing fast foods such as Quavers by any children we allow in the van.

Always find Daz is as good as anything for cleaning things including ovens, fridges etc

Tea tree oil/water, white vinegar/water & hydrogen peroxide mix.

All 3 work very well and will leave surfaces bacteria free. Just don't use bleach! And don't blend the 3 mixtures together.

My favorite is tea tree oil/hot water as smells nice directly afterwards not overpowering in the long term. You can also add lavender oil to the mix if you prefer that smell.

Citizen smith makes a very good point about cleaning up sharpish when you get back from a trip. Also aerate van frequently over winter if you can.

Friend of mine made a solar can heater for his boat for the winter months when not in use and it's worked at keeping mould at bay. Had photos of it somewhere...

Not very manly hoping out your van wiffing of a hint of lavender

I have used Dettol Mould and Mildew in the past to clean my old Eunos convertible I went carefully and quickly on fabrics because it is bleach based. On vinyl and plastics it worked extremely well. Stinks a little afterwards but only needed doing once and did not return.

I grabbed some autoglym interior shampoo for the seats and that seemed to work well everywhere. So now Mould free

you may find that test are all bunged up

H G Mold spray from B and Q. Works everytime but ventilate well when your using it!
