I have a recently acquired 1981 Autosleeper pop-top.
When I got it, it did not have the correct upper panels for the bed on which you can sleep, at least not all of them.
I would like to try to find out as much as possible about what they should be like so I can try to re-make them, either as they were, or with improvements if necessary. I would like to know for example,
* How many were there ?
* What sizes were they ?
* What position would they be in for sleeping ?
* Would they need to be removed, or moved to certain positions when raising/lowering the roof ?
* How big a person could it sleep ?
* Were they padded, or was there separate padding ?
* Did they work well as they were or could there be any improvements ?
Any of the above information, or anything else would be invaluable, or any pictures etc.

I measured mine for someone making their own last year. Board one nearest the cab is approx. 46.5" wide and 24" long, the other one is 46.5" and 36" long. For sleeping they are next to each other and when the top is popped the front one slides up and lies on top of the rear. They're about 3" thick, 1.5" of that is the foam padding. I've never spent any time sleeping up there because we usually pile all the crap up there when we camp but on the odd occasion I've had a quick lie down it seems quite comfy. I've never had them out of the van.

Thanks for that info. So it is supposed to have one 24" and one 36", so a 5ft upper bed. Mine for some reason has just two boards of 24" each.
I might try to come up with something which allows a larger upper sleeping area. Not sure how, but maybe another board which is hinged, so you close it once you are up there a bit like a Joker I hired once.
