Hi all . . .
gonna get my van lowered soon, cant stretch to gettin the avo kit. . .This christmas HURT financially LOTS . toss up between JK kit or Jamex kit from Simon, any ideas which one?
JK would be a 60mm drop & Jamex a 45 mm, altho they state its nearer 50-55mm at front & 40 at rear. One of these kits will be fitted to an 83 Devon camper, normally fully laden ready for a quick getaway!!

I'm guessing you mean Simon Brickyard? I'd go with Simon Brickyard every time.

Mate of mine bought a lowering kit for his corrado many moons ago, he had horrendous problems with it, different spring lengths etc, and had a really bad time with the supplier.

From experience, Simon wouldn't leave you high (low?) & dry if the kit wasn't 100% and he's recently adjusted his prices to match ebay stuff.

His labour rate isn't too bad either if you want him to do the job

from all the excellent comments about Simon's work, that people have posted on ere, if i was up your way, i'd have no hesitation about lettin him do the job, (and probably alot of other jobs too) . . .But as i'm one of those "sarfners", just a bit tooo far to go. . . . . . Seems a good price at £210 delivered for 4 springs n 4 dampers. . .

I have an '84 camper so similar in year, i went with the -60mm JK kit about 3 yrs ago but found it too low at the front so i ended up buying another -45mm kit and fitting just the fronts which has levelled it up nicely, i did'nt use JK shox but fitted shorter ones (i can't recall the make) so i would think long and hard about going the -60mm route. Simon has got a good rep and knows these vans well, i travelled up from W-ton to have the camber adjusted after i lowered mine and recieved excellent service. There have been a few posts on here regarding the Jamex kits being a bit 'nose down' so i suppose it is something you need to think about and maybe ask for photo's of vans fitted with them.

Hi I used the Jamex 45mm kit off ebay (fireturk) nice and cheap but good solid kit. The only problem I did have was the a*** end was much higher than the front. The handling was much better (more like a car) Fireturk did get hold of the makers and a new set of 60mm springs are on there way. I would go with the Jemax kit but check with simon or fireturk if the problem has been sorted. Your right when you say this kit is more like 50mm 55mm at the front (but not the back). Hope this helps.

Jamex kit -45mm (although the front drops more than that) see Baxters comments on the kit. I had to "adjust" one front spring length on my Westy to get it to sit level, a common thing withe Westy campers apparently.

I've had my Westy lowered 45mm with the JK Springs and Dampers, fitted by a local independent VW specialist garage. Drives lovely you can actually feel what's going on when you go round corners, looks sweet, slightly lower at the front than at the back

any pics from you two above would be sweet! many peeps advise not to go -60mm on campers because of weight issues. I've seen a holdsworth wiv the -60mm drop, looks really how i want mine, but he's kept original shocks and if you jump on his bumper, it definately bottoms out

Then dont jump on his bumper. I would always say a change of shocks is a good thing when going lower, even more so if your going for a 60 drop.

I've got the JK -60 in a panel, a*** sits up too high. How did you adjust the spring length?

Weird i got a jk kit (springs n shox) n mine sits flat and actually wee bit lower than -60mm i think. Want to upgrade to the avo in the summer tho so i can give an honest opinion of them both after that.

Just got in from the front drive after to many hrs messing about with my rear springs. The kit is Jamex 45mm and has all the normal probs with this kit (front down, back high) so I got what was supposed to be shorter springs for the back. As it turns out the springs did not seem much lower when fitted. So the outcome is ....Yes my van looks lower, yes it handles much better, Yes the overall look is again better. But the hassle involed can make you wish you never started in the first place. My advice is to pay that little bit more for a kit that is just what is says on the tin. I dont know much about them but the adjustable kits seem like a good idea.....But then so does the bus. Good luck.

SO thats a u-turn by me. I say go for the adjustable ones. Or if the JK ones sit level like the chap above (PEET)says maybe give that a shout. But the Jamex dragster shocks are hard work....trust me on this one. If it ever gets leveled out it would be a good kit at a good price.
