Hi all.....

I need to replace the tailgate gas struts on my '86 T25. Problem is I can't get a correct match as the product code on the old ones has rubbed off. Could someone help please?

Replaced mine this weekend with struts from Brickwerks. Really good service, easy to for but found them quite vicious, springs open and needs a lot of force to close

Sounds like those are the uprated ones for when you have a bike rack installed and it will still open. As a mater of interest is there a Nm number on the body?

Jon

'E D I T' just been on brickwerks and it's 800Nm which is strong! It says it's not uprated, just the maximum from the factory and is strong enough for a fitted bike rack and even a bike or two with assistance, excellent, just what I need.

From memory there are 3 strengths ( I won't go into the HydroLift variants)

580nm, solid tailgate, or Ambulance tailgate as it's sometimes known, that's the one without glass.
610nm are your normal ones, panel vans, no central locking or rear wash wipe.
800nm are for vehicles with central locking and a rear wash wipe because they are heavier.

800nm are the strongest from the factory and will easily lift a tailgate with a bike rack on and sometimes a bike too.

I no longer use a door mounted bike rack and you need some arm strength to close the tailgate. If anyone wants them give me a shout.

I got the struts from Brickwerks. Don't have a bike rack fitted and it isn't too hard to close. Not like I'm super strong or tall either!

That would be 800N.
No torque involved, just a force.
