Anyone tried anything like this to heat their van?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INFRARED-ELEC ... xyY9VRTEVm

was thinking would be a good unobtrusive way to heat the camper (under floor / in sliding door panel / roof?)

not that much heat but often just need enough to take chill off....

You need at least 750 watts to keep the "chill" off
1.6kw will be enough to eventually warm an uninsulated van.

External temp at freezing.

ya soft southerner ;) - ive got a 500 watt oil heater i use and works great unless really baltic outside .

ive seen the heat film with 220wats a m2 so if i did the floor and the sliding door and roof may be enough on most trips although roof panel heat may just escape out the top!

then again i should probably finish all those other jobs ive started first.

I know we get to be very versatile keeping our vans going and not wishing to denigrate anyone's knowledge or ability, I would suggest that particular precautions would be necessary to safely install these panels into a camper. Visions of spontaneous Afro style hair do's and tripping of hook ups spring to mind. Or getting electric shock to the nether regions while stepping into the van
