Hi all, I've just brought the van back home having spent a winter fettling. I now want to make sure that we keep our pride and joy or at least get it back quickly. The short question is what tracker would you recommend?

Cheers

I have one of these. It uses a GiffGaff sim card, as does my tablet. So texts and calls are free.
Very simple to set up.

How well do these work once a vehicle has left the UK?

How well does what work?

If its subscription based, you'll have to ask the company (i know skytag does work abroad).

If it's your own Sim card - then you'll have to work that out yourself (can it send texts when its abroad).

My inference was that you need to have a service provider that allows European roaming if there is the slightest chance that your high-spec LHD T3 (Westy, syncro, LLE etc) could be stolen and be headed straight for the nearest port.
IIRC lots of thefts occur in the dead of night, by the time most people are up and about their wagon could be 4-5 hours down the road.

GSM uses a mobile signal does it not? So it wouldn't work if you can't get a mobile signal?

I just find it odd that people would rely on a £25 tracker to hopefully recover their pride and joy.
Better than nothing though :P

Thats a bit like saying that you need an iphone 6s to phone for a taxi.....
If a 25 quid one works.....why would you pay more.

The technology is so cheap

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to keep looking for a solution. I'd love to buy a cheap one and might still get one to test with.

Cheers
