Voltage across grounds

When cranking I'm reading 0.6v between the ground on the engine block and my battery ground. Acceptable, or a tad too high?

Acceptable I would say.

Mind you, no harm (and dead easy) to check your battery to body earth (in the same manner) and to fit an "auxiliary" engine to chassis earth strap for a belt and braces approach.

I'll second Ghost there. If your having problems with the starter motor I would look at the terminal that fits on to the starter's solenoid - they're well known for corroding.

Thanks folks. Recrimped and soldered engine block earths and brightened everything up. Starter all good thanks Bubble, just having a few idle niggles.
