Next project - colour changing dash

Ordered some of these. I haven't decided whether to just settle for a rotary control or something more sophisticated, but I like the idea of being able to change my dash lights to any colour. Will keep you updated.....

Ohhhh, look decent - might get myself some of those! Drive it from an arduino / pi - loads of options then!

Yep, considered hooking them up to an arduino. For longevity though, a straightfoward switch selection might be better. I can't see me wanting the colour changing whilst I'm driving but would be cool to have a choice to start with.

They are what I use in switches - use a single resistor on neg.

Yup - exactly what I was going to do Oldie. Theres a slight variation in forward voltage between the colours but providing resistor value isn't too low it should be ok. Found a nice rotary switch in my electronic spares. Bit of fun anyway.

I wouldn't worry about the different forward voltages, the intensity will be sufficient and you will hardly notice - in my experience with them anyway.

Might need some telephone or ribbon cable though. Be a bit untidy otherwise
